The Tandem went through our frame shop and had parts removed and parts added, then totally repainted with original decals to complete and retain its heritage!

The frame is quite unique…we have renovated a large number of Tandems like this over the years! The frame is fillet brazed (usually lugged) and was built for the Track, the curly seat tube at the rear was created specially for Claud Butler by Reynolds and was made from 532 Butted Steel tubing. It was to shorten the wheelbase to make it really quick on the track…which we are sure it was!

The renovation included the Rohloff Hub, operated by a Rohbox via Sram shifters. The right shifter engages lower gears and the left hand higher. The brakes were replaced with Genetic cantilevers which work really well with the Sram levers. The wheels are built onto H+Son rims and the chainset is a Stronglight Impact.

This refurbishment now has some very contemporary features while retaining its classic styling and history…and we look forward to seeing it in action! #cycling #cyclinglife #tandem #tandem #classicbikes #vintagebicycle
